Curriculum Introduction

  • LITTLE EXPLORERS

    EASTBOURNE 6-11YRS
    Academies Available: Animal Management, Horse Riding, Swimming, Tennis

    This carefully considered programme, with 17½ hours of lessons per week, takes place at Bede’s Preparatory School and is adapted to our younger students. English lessons consist of English Skills, StoryTime and Explorations, where students learn English through stimulating subjects such as science, space, ecology, geography and technology. The Cambridge YLE exam is available for students wishing to gain an English language qualification. Before lunch, Siesta Time is included to allow our youngest students to reenergise in preparation for a busy afternoon of sports and activities. Optional professional academies are available in a range of sports, outdoor leisure pursuits and other recreational activities. The evening entertainment programme provides an opportunity for recreation and fun and is designed to immerse students in the English language and culture in a stimulating and innovative way. Weekend excursions enable students to visit places of interest; these may be a cultural visit to a castle, museum or popular tourist attraction such as the London Eye, or something more recreational such as a boat trip or theme park. Day students are welcome and English classes and a leisure programme are available for parents.

    VINEHALL 8–12YRS & HANDCROSS 10–14YRS
    Vinehall – Animal Management, Fishing, Horse Riding, Piano, Rookie Lifeguard, Stage & Screen, Tennis Handcross – Dance (Commercial Pop), Horse Riding, Sailing, Scuba Diving, Stage & Screen, Tennis This semi-intensive programme, based at Vinehall and Handcross, offers 20 hours of formal English lessons per week and focusses on outdoor learning to stimulate students’curiosity about the natural environment.

    English lessons consist of English Skills, Enrichment and Explorations, where students learn English through subjects such as science, space, ecology, geography and technology. The Cambridge YLE and Trinity GESE exams are available for students wishing to gain an English language qualification. This fully inclusive programme includes sports and activities every afternoon. Professional academies are available in a range of sports, outdoor leisure pursuits and other recreational activities. The evening entertainment programme provides an opportunity for recreation and fun and is designed to immerse students in the English language and culture in a stimulating and innovative way. Weekend excursions enable students to visit places of interest; these may be a cultural visit to a castle, museum or popular tourist attraction such as the London Eye, or something more recreational such as a visit to a zoo or theme park. Excursions may include an overnight stay in London in accommodation suitable for school groups.

  • ADVENTURES IN ENGLISH

    WINDLESHAM 11–15YRS
    Academies available: Adventure Sports, Dance (Commercial Pop), Football, Horse Riding, Sailing, Scuba Diving, Stage & Screen, Tennis

    This summer adventure programme, based at Windlesham House School, offers 20 hours of English lessons per week including English Skills, Explorations, where students learn English through stimulating subjects such as science, space, ecology, geography, technology, and Adventure Activities. The Cambridge KET and Trinity GESE exams are available for students wishing to gain an English language qualification. This fully inclusive programme includes sports and activities every afternoon. Professional academies are available in a range of sports, outdoor leisure pursuits and other recreational activities. The evening entertainment programme provides an opportunity for recreation and fun and is designed to immerse students in the English language and culture in a stimulating and innovative way. Weekend excursions enable students to visit places of interest; these may be a cultural visit to a castle, museum or popular tourist attraction such as the London Eye, or something more recreational such as a boat trip or theme park.

  • ENGLISH PLUS

    DICKER 12–17YRS & LANCING 13–18YRS
    Academies available: Academic – Economics, English Literature, Int. Relations, IT, Management, Maths, Science Creative – Ceramics/Pottery, Dance (Commercial Pop), Guitar, Photography, Piano Sport – Adventure Sports, Flying, Football, Golf, Horse Riding, Sailing, Scuba Diving, Tennis, Windsurfing

    This semi-intensive programme, with 22½ hours of lessons per week, takes place at a choice of two Boarding Schools and caters perfectly for younger and older teenagers. English lessons consist of English Skills, Enrichment and Research Projects, which expertly combine to enhance both students’ receptive and productive skills. Intensive exam courses are available for students wishing to gain the reputable PET, FCE and CAE qualifications. Students can create a more intensive study programme by choosing up to two academic academies per week in subjects such as Economics, English Literature, International Relations, IT, Management, Maths or Science. This fully inclusive programme includes sports and activities every afternoon. Professional academies are available in a range of sports, outdoor leisure pursuits and other recreational activities. The evening entertainment programme provides an opportunity for recreation and fun and is designed to immerse students in the English language and culture in a stimulating and innovative way. Weekend excursions enable students to visit places of interest; they may be a cultural visit to a castle, museum or popular tourist attraction such as the Tower of London or something more recreational such as a shopping trip or visit to a theme park.

  • LEGAT DANCE

    DICKER 12–17YRS
    Some previous Ballet training is required for this course.

    This exclusive two-week programme is offered by the Legat School of Dance in collaboration with Bede’s Summer School at Dicker, home of Bede’s Senior School. The dance component includes 17 hours per week of classical ballet, contemporary dance, choreography, conditioning and Pilates, taught by a Legat dance instructor. Dancers join English Plus students for their English lessons, which consist of 12½ hours per week of English Skills. The evening entertainment programme provides an opportunity for recreation and fun and is designed to immerse students in the English language and culture in a stimulating and innovative way. Weekend excursions enable students to visit places of interest; they may be a cultural visit to a castle, museum or popular tourist attraction such as the Tower of London or something more recreational such as a shopping trip or visit to a theme park. This intensive course culminates in a spectacular dance show performed in the Miles Theatre on the Dicker campus in front of an audience.

  • ENGLISH FOR THE FUTURE

    UNIVERSITY OF SUSSEX, BRIGHTON 15–20YRS
    Academies available: Adventure Sports, Dance (Commercial Pop), Football, Tennis

    This study programme, with 25 hours of lessons per week, is specially designed for young adults who are preparing for further academic study or for the start of their professional life. Lessons consist of English Skills, Communication Skills and Professional Skills, which expertly combine to give students effective strategies for communication in a variety of academic and professional contexts, and give them a practical understanding of certain careers and professions, underpinned by theoretical knowledge. The professional skills offered are Coaching, Contemporary History, Entrepreneurship, Finance, International Politics, Law, Management and Modern Psychology. An intensive CAE or IELTS preparation course and exam is also available for students wishing to gain an internationally recognised qualification and those seeking entry to university in the UK. This fully inclusive programme includes age-appropriate social events and recreational activities in the evening such as paintballing, music concert, mountain biking, go-karting or disco, designed to immerse students in the English language and culture in a stimulating and innovative way. Weekend excursions enable students to explore the cities of Brighton or London, which may include a cultural visit to a castle, museum or popular tourist attraction such as the Tower of London, or something more recreational such as shopping in Camden Market or seeing a musical.

To join the Bede's Summer Camp, a Short-Term Student Visa should be prepared and sufficient time should be reserved according to the date of travel. If you need to apply for a visa, we will serve you wholeheartedly.
